Video Part 3 - Venesuela & Colombia

Hi folks, thank you for exploring into Part 3 of my SOUTHERN RIDE ... let me share a small introduction.

Part 3 starts in Indiana after extensive repairs and modifications were done to the Waterbuffalo since returning from Panama.  She is trailered to Miami, Florida, crated and flown to Venezuela.  Now, the real adventure begins!  Highlights include the tiny fishing village of Santa Fe.  East of Tucupita in the swampland, Jon travels over 150 kilometers by boat visiting with local Indians along the river whose simple homes are a sight to remember.  In the Grand Sabana, Jon pilots the airplane right next to Angel Falls for some great photos of the highest waterfalls in the world.  Jon walks under Sapo Falls with the waterproof camera still rolling but later he takes a nasty tumble down another waterfall.  Caicara is an interesting farm town on the Orinoco River.  South of Puerto Ayacucho is where Jon gets some real jungle riding complete with river crossings.  In the Llanos, Jon hits an alligator shortly after a narrow escape with a giant Anaconda Snake.  Merida is a beautiful mountain city with a magnificent church in Western Venezuela.  The Paraguana Peninsula in northwestern Venezuela is actually a desert with an ocean.  Near Sinamaica,  Indian homes are standing in the 2 meter deep swamp water just like the were 500 years ago when the first Spanish explorers arrived there.

Colombia, entered near Cucuta, was a delightful surprise with friendly people.  Jon has a great time in the hot town of Agua Chica!  Santa Marta is Colombia's largest beach resort area.  Historic Cartagena is the 2nd most visited city in South America and a great battle occurred here that became the reason that Jon's home town in Indiana was named, Mount Vernon!  In the bull ring, a woman matador (the only one in the world) is hit by the bull.  Rare footage indeed!  Yurumal is a beautiful mountain town where Dora explains and shows Jon the local culture.  Medellin is called dangerous and the drug capital of the world, even so, the police on motorcycles would ride double with the passenger carrying a machine gun.  An original circus performance is seen.  The city, Buenaventura, means good adventure, is Colombia's largest port on the Pacific.  Popayan is a well kept mountain city in the south where you can see Jon's hotel accommodations.  Near Pasto is an incredible church built over a steep river gorge at 8,000 feet elevation where many miracles are said to have occurred.  Part 3 ends at Ipiales on the Equador border.  DON'T MISS PART 3!!!

Few people realize that Venezuela has a desert in the Paraguana Peninsula.  Jon calls it a "desert with an ocean."

The Grand Sabana in Venezuela is noted for it's beautiful waterfalls including Angel Falls, the highest waterfall in the world.  Here pictured are Sapo Falls and Jon goes underneath and behind these falls for some ------photos!   Just for you!

The church and park here are in Yuramal Colombia, high in the Andes mountains where Dora shows Jon this interesting town.

Jon encountered over 1,200 stops or checks by police or military in the 2 year journey, some good, some bad.  These soldiers were friendly!

In Agua Chica, Colombia, Jon has a very simple Christmas dinner at Rhuella house.

When traveling in unfamiliar territory, always always keep your eyes on the road because it may not be there at all.
